There are so many reasons why I give God thanks. I acknowledge that I fall short of being holy of my own merit. I was born into sin, not of my own choosing but like all of humanity I come from Adam and Eve. One thing in life we learn we have free will.
I have free will. In this free will like you and everyone else we decide what we’re going to do. We do good with our free will and we do bad. We’re imperfect and the idea of trying to be perfect is a cool one but it’s impossible outside of believing in Jesus.
The word teaches anyone who believes in Jesus is saved. John 3:16. In order for that to happen we would have to be viewed as righteous. This is good news to know because it means people from all over the world can be righteous through faith in Jesus. #awesome!!
God is the standard
Yahweh is holy and righteous.
It is written:
And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say,“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.”
Revelation 4:8
God tells us to be holy because he is holy. That is written in 1 Peter 1:16.
That takes work but it is not impossible. The two greatest commandments remind us of how to be holy. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, strength… and the second commandment is like it love your neighbor as yourself. By loving our neighbors as ourselves we set the standard as adopted sons and daughters of God. It takes work but look at how much work it takes for God to love us.
